Thanks for the reply, We already left Auckland and we're heading south
toward the south island.

We'll probably pass through Picton, Queenstown, Wanaka and god knows were
else... we're planning this as we go along.

If that too general for a good answer just forget it, I appreciate the help
anyway.

Thanks,
David

I'm going to New Zealand on a vacation and I'll be there until the beginning of
March. Where might I be able to find cheap (or at least reasonably priced) LEGO
Technic & Mindstorms sets?

Oooh you'll love the South Island.  Very pretty down there.  Last time I was
in Nelson, they didn't have too many toy shops, may have changed now??

I used to live in Invercargill and there were a few stores there that sold
Lego (department/variety type stores).  I'm sure you'll find something.  I
remember seeing Lego in a Toyworld? store in Queenstown (in the main Mall).

Mind you all this was back in Aug 1993 (last time I was down that way).  I
saw a whole bunch of stuff (fairly decent) half price when I went back to
Wellington in Dec 1999.

Have fun!  Hope it's not too cold there :)

Mel (glad to be home here in baking Australia).

Lego is not particularly cheap here in New Zealand, but with the NZ
dollar equal to only 43 cents US, you may be able to score yourself some
bargains!

For example, (if it was available) the Harry Potter train was retailing
at 129.95 NZD. That equals 55.86 USD. How does that compare? Or the
large Life On Mars set at 249.95 NZD (107.50 USD).

Mindstorms sets are mostly sold by Dick Smith Electronics. Let me know
where you will be visiting and I will list the retailers in that area.
There have been no 2002 sets appear on the shelves here yet.
