http://www.dya-shopping.com  Has the 7150. US$33. Although the shipping from
France can be expensive. I wouldn't mind one(or more) myself so if anyone
wants to get together the shipping on multiple sets is cheaper...

Still looking for the 7150...

Mel (who might have found a few more places if the net was more stable • this
morning and sites actually worked!)

Thanks everyone for your replies.

US$ 33 (at DYA shopping) seems to be the best price by far of any of the
7150's I've seen overseas.  I think this price is only valid until 2/5/01,
after which the 10% discount expires.  Even so it would still be a good price.

Shipping costs - surface mail - from DYA:
US$ 20.99 for 1 set
US$ 34.17 for 2 sets
US$ 38.83 for 3 sets
US$ 47.03 for 4 sets

So it is a little bit more economical to buy several sets if, as Jason says,
afew of us get together to buy.

However I seem to remember some recent postings complaining about customs
imposing GST on a large shipment imported from the USA.  Would this happen
if we were to import several 7150's?

Scott

Hello and G'morning Scott.

As your total, say if you purchased 4 of these sets for you and others, as
you know = $132 US in price and say if the currency is right on double with
the US then that leaves you = $264 Aust (due to what the rate is when
customs look at will differ too).  The Customs side comes in once it goes
over $200 Aust.  In which they will charge you a customs fee, then GST on
the total price of goods, GST on your shipping total and then GST on (their)
transportation costs which with the last GST three items will give you one
larger GST price.  And who knows, it all depends on what DYA will write on
the customs forms when they send it (maybe more or less).  And if you are
lucky it might not go through at all, but expect it.

This is the info I posted some weeks ago when we got our parcel:
_______________________________________________________________________________
This is what the back of my customs form reads:

"for unsolicited gifts sent by an individual overseas, Customs duty and the
Goods and Services Tax is not calculated on to the first $200.  Where goods
cost more than this, Customs duty and the Goods Services Tax is calculated
on that part of the value exceeding A$200.  Limits apply to alcohol and
tabacco products"

"High rates of Customs duty applies to goods such as clothing, footwear,
jewellery, cosmetics, toys, car parts, alcohol and tabacco products"

"The calculation for the Goods and Services Tax is determined by the A NEW
TAX SYSTEM (Goods and Services Tax) Act 1999 and provides for the
calculation of GST on all goods imported on or after 1 July 2000.  All
imports of wine will be subject to a Wine Equalisation Tax (WET).  The
calculation of GST, and WET where applicable, is based on the following
formula":

** Value of Taxable Importation (VOTI) = Customs Value + Customs Duty + Cost
of Transportation and Insurance

** Wine Equalisation Tax (WET) = 29%xVOTI (for wine purposes importations only).

** Goods and services Tax (GST) = 10%x(VOTI+WET)

** Total Payable = Customs duty + Wine Tax + GST

There you have it!  I'd love to order something from them too, but after
this thing with shop@home I think I am still digging myself out of my grave :P

Hope it helps anyway... Mel
