Waaaaay cooooool!  The first <<whatever/whenever you end up deciding to call

Hopefully there'll be some taken at the <thing>fest which will make their
way to the net soon after. I'll have a new film in my camera, but it may
take a bit longer.

How big is the crew?

Normal minifig size.

Oh, you mean how many? The official crew is six, but three of them are
little more than general hands. The Speculative Endeavour can run happily
with three (Captain, Navigator & Engineer). It is a modern ship, with lots
of electronics and such (eg lots of 2x2 computer slopes, Star Wars 1x2
keyboard tiles, Star Wars 1x4 tiles), and is easy to control, even for such
a small crew. Accomodation is provided for twelve (and that's before someone
sleeps on the sofa in the crew lounge), and the cargo space can be
reconfigured as required.

For whom does she sail?

She sails for me. She (and her crew, of course) are available for hire.
And there's lot's of cargo space, and roll on/roll off loading. Clearances
have been set for soccer busses to drive straight in.

For tax purposes, she is sails under the flag of Conveniencia, a small
island somewhere of the coast of Taxhaven.

Where is she based?

She's usually anchored at Bookshelf Atoll (or would be if her anchor chains
were longer!). She occasionally visits the harbour at Livingroomfloor for
modifications.

Is she in need of Combat Air Cover?

Her dedicated support helicopter is apparently unarmed, as is the flying
boat which will likely accompany her from time to time, so Combat Air Cover
would need to be provided externally.

Repairs?

I hope not, she hasn't left on her maiden voyage yet.

Refit?

Mission specific refits are a definite maybe. I have already produced a set
of demountable deck guns to be used on the foredeck when necessary.

(Is there anything the lads of Port Block Yards can do?)

Inspire!

Actually, the aircraft carrier 'Superlative' (my previous attempt at a
large, modern(ish) ship) was consigned to scrap after I saw the Valhalla,
and this enabled the creation of the Speculative Endeavour, a much finer
ship than the Superlative would ever have been without major, major purchases.

What's Port Block's next big ship project?

Pics, pics, I need pics!

Digital camera, digital camera, I need digital camera! :)

The Speculative Endeavour has been based very loosely on the ice ship, Sir
Hubert Wilkins (see any Dick Smith Foods Nutra Bites pack or
http://www.oceanfrontiers.com.au/iceship/shipspecifiacations.htm), but the
Sir Hubert wasn't quite big enough for my purposes. (Also, the Speculative
Endeavour doesn't have that graceful curve throughout it's length. It's
much, much squarer). The Speculative Endeavour is, of course, a waterline model.

Cheers
