Mindstorms:
*RIS 1.5 at Dick Smith/Ozbricks for ~$290,
supplemented with
*Ultimate accessories for ~$100
*current supply of System and mid-80s Technic, maybe another pneumatic
tow-truck (bring on the 25% off sale TRU!!)
*sensors, motors from LA as required

For all these, I'd definitely watch ebay & trading post. I paid full price • for
my first RIS, but all since then I got for a lot less. Though ebay is a lot
less inviting with the dollar so low...

I'm pretty keen to go MISB, but I wouldn't mind a few extra RCXs to test
their group behaviour modelling. What condition were sets in the secondhand
market?
Are the "Ultimate Accessories" worth $100?

I got my RIS 1.0 for (AU)$200 in the trading post. It was near mint condition,
but with S/H it's always the luck of the draw.

My UAS was US$38 on ebay. If you just want the rotation sensor, it's probably
not worth it, but it also has afew other useful bits 'n' pieces.

Also, try & find a RIS 1.0 - the power in socket is really handy while
programming.

Trains:
*4565 Freight Railway ~$290
*4548 regulator ~$60
*4531 points (if I can find them) ~$50
*4515 straights ~$25
*a couple of small sets to build up the supply of wagons and crew ~$40

Is 4565 as nifty as it looks?

Can't comment - dont have one 8?( But it does look pretty nifty. Has those old
yellow angle pieces on the freight cars which I wouldn't mind getting a couple
of...
