Yeah i saw those pieces on in the instructions for the Claw rig but i
thought they were solid plastic ie. not flexible. But there you go...

Yes, it's used exactly like this in 8868.
The advantage is that you can nicely fasten the tubing with
1x1 tiles with clip (http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/2555).
