Well, I certainly know that a lot of smaller toy stores closed down in
Melbourne in the last couple of years, and it's not hard to see why - • their
prices simply can't compete with that of the big chains like TRU and Big
W.

My nearest toy store closed earlier this year and it was ... TRU! Initially,
I just thought they might be moving to larger premises or something, but
apparently not. So Brisbane went from 3 TRUs to 2. Also W4Ks in Aspley
Brisbane closed a while ago following a number of progressive reductions in
floorspace.

So it isn't just small stores that are closing. However, I notice that it is
stores that specialise in toys that are closing. I haven't seen too many
department stores (Big W, KMart, Target, Myer etc) closing.
