I started collecting on behalf of my son(s) and became truely addicted
although Ive never counted "our" collection, weve just got a lot.  Because
of that I have all of the original boxes the sets/pieces came in.  Given the
space it takes up

Yes! I gave up keeping my boxes when I decided that the space they took up
was more valuable to me than the likely future value of the boxes.

(and the greenie in me)
No! The greenie in you should keep the boxes intact: Keep the carbon in the
cardboard, not in the atmosphere!

I wonder if there is infact any
value in keeping boxes etc.  Can someone please enlighten me

If you can foresee needing or wanting to sell your sets, then yes. A set is
generally more valuable with the box.

I'm pondering the value of keeping my instructions. Out of the 300+ I've got
filed away, I've only ever reused three of them(1). I wonder if my estate
will take the time to reconstruct sets to maximise sale value?

Cheers
