Well, I still reckon that it wouldn't hurt to mention that: 'Wherever practical we try to purchase our lego in Australia. However, occasionally we branch out to get sets from overseas, generally for sets that are either produced in the US or (...) (25 years ago, 8-Jun-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

Thanks for backing up my memory there, Peter. I think what you got was the price for the X-WING [collectors edition] From memory, that was the only set THIS YEAR [PRE GST] to be over the $300 RRP [other than the train, possibly]. $359 sounds like (...) (...) This can't be right. I think the person at LA must have swapped a two with a three somewhere along the line. Not wishing to seem like I appreciate the high costs...I think the reason that lego is much cheaper in the US than any othey country is...wait for it...They produce it there. This means no import duties, low transport costs, etc. Unfortunately, (...) (25 years ago, 8-Jun-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

Import cost= $100US * 1.7 (dollar to peso) = $170+~10%=$190+post= approx $220 RRP=$359 Who is making the profit ? Once again LA make it difficult to buy Lego and deprive Australian youth of the toy they should be playing with (sigh!!) Tim (...) (25 years ago, 8-Jun-00, to lugnet.loc.au)

Are you SURE about the 10% increase....I think You'll find its actuall an 8-12% DECREASE with the GST...Making the set cost $324.00 [I thought it was supposed to be less than that...If someone can find my list I posted of RRP's earlier in the year (...)
