Hmm... taking a look at shop.lego.com, the colors of the
dark grey back of 50 2x4s appear to be
different than the color they used for the
mixed “old” dark grey pack . So my
guess would be that the new 50 packs of 2x4s are indeed the new colors. But that
is just a guess.

I wouldn't read too much into the colors, as they have varied all over the map in the past, for instance, consider the color shown in the catalog for the mixed blue plate pack, it's way off LEGO blue. | (...) These packs have the same SKU as the "old dark gray" bricks. There is no reason to believe that these are not the "old gray".
