    Re: S@H woes —Erik Olson
(...) Yes, because of those awful menus, I don't use the website. A real shame. I don't have this problem on some other sites that use menus. I bet it's partly the browser. (24 years ago, 1-Jan-01, to lugnet.lego.direct)

        Re: S@H woes —Larry Pieniazek
(...) While I find the site at times somewhat annoying, I don't see THOSE sorts of delays. what browser are you running? Some Mac thing? I am running IE 5.50 on Win 2000 over dialup, mostly. BTW (the menus are Javascript, but we know that (...) (24 years ago, 2-Jan-01, to lugnet.lego.direct)

         Re: S@H woes —Erik Olson
Guess what? Those S@H menus don't work in IE 4 either. (Time to upgrade?) It turns out, IE 4 can't even be used on Microsoft's website anymore because too many links are implemented as javascript actions instead of, um, links. For instance, it's (...)           Re: S@H woes —Erik Olson
I've been testing different browsers on my own web site (trying to implement advice the books give on being compatible--not easy.) Anyway, now I have Mac IE 3, 4, and 5 set up. Only 5 plays well with www.lego.com. It is more tolerable than Netscape (...) (24 years ago, 2-Jan-01, to lugnet.lego.direct)

        Re: S@H woes —Christopher Masi
(...) It must be a Mac thing. I have been complaining about slow menu loading for a while. Using IE 5 and Netscape 4.7, the bulk pages take about 4 min to load. Apparently, it does not take that long for the menus to load on a PC. Since LEGO doesn't (...) (24 years ago, 2-Jan-01, to lugnet.lego.direct)

I'm on a PC running IE 5.5 over a cable modem and it takes about 20-30s for the menus to load on each page. (...) (24 years ago, 2-Jan-01, to lugnet.lego.direct)

        Re: S@H woes —Chris Gray
(...) I just played around a bit with it. It's about 15 seconds to load the menus on my system. There is no cable-modem activity at all while it is happening, but my disk drive goes nuts. So, I think it is entirely governed by how fast your browser (...) (24 years ago, 3-Jan-01, to lugnet.lego.direct)

(...) browsing. Most pages load in 30 sec or less, but the bulk pages, presumably because they have a great many menus, take a very long time to load. Chris (24 years ago, 3-Jan-01, to lugnet.lego.direct)

        Re: S@H woes —Jeff Elliott
From work it takes me 10-20 seconds to load a menu page over DSL. From home... well, despite my ADSL 1Mbps connection and major ISP, I can't resolve the site at all because of a long-term DNS screw-up. Sigh. Jeff (...) (24 years ago, 3-Jan-01, to lugnet.lego.direct)
