I completely agree with white, black, lt gray, and dk gray in the top 5.
Kinda wonder how red creeped in.
But the parts types results completely baffle me. For every 2x2 concave steep
slope and just about every item on the list, I use 100s of 2x4s. The list
seems to reflect demand based on scarcity, not demand based on usage. We
better watch what we wish for. After I buy 1000 2x2 lt gray tiles, Ill be
set for life, but Ill still be short 100,000 2x4s.

100,000 2x4s, which train clubs would call a good start to building a
layout...
Yup. 2x4s in quantities (2500 bricks? 10,000 bricks?) would be awesome, and
wed buy em! Throw in the ability to buy 2x2 bricks, and wed have 90% of the
bricks we use on a train layout. Lets see, 10,000 2x4 bricks at maybe 4 cents
each is $400. Id buy 5 or 6 of those every year. Heck, the GMLTC has gone
through 10,000 2x4 bricks in just a couple of weeks of layout building.
My personal top choices: 1x2x2 classic town window.
Bricks: 1x1, 1x2, 1x4, 2x2, 2x3, 2x4.
Plates: 1x1, 1x2, 1x4, 1x8, 2x2, 2x3, 2x4, 2x8.
Leaf elements: 3x4, 6x5 (in several shades of green).
After these I put some more specialized elements like train windows and some
Technic elements. Give me basic bricks and plates!
I refused to list either the light blue-grey or dark blue-grey on any of my
selections though...

| (...) snipped (...) John- Exactly! I would have bought 10,000 2x4 bricks in light gray or dark gray at $0.04 each in a split second. Survey respondents should have been asked how many they would buy at a specified price. That would have made for (...) (21 years ago, 26-May-04, to lugnet.lego, FTX)
