(...) pond) good for the USians, too? Hmm... This is not good, huh? Low US prices are a good thing for us, since even including shipping overseas, they still be lower than prices here for many of the sets. Selçuk (26 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.general)

Re: Lego To Close Molding, Processing at Enfield, CT plant

(...) It might have something to do with the value of the US Dollar so being so high right now. (26 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.general)

Re: Lego To Close Molding, Processing at Enfield, CT plant

(...) It will not make much of a difference. I don't know how many machines Enfield has, but I would suspect less than 25 injection molding machines (if they are laying off 100 people...) The cost of shipping Lego would not be very high, at least, (...) (26 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.general)

Re: Lego To Close Molding, Processing at Enfield, CT plant

(...) Really! I would think that 100 people (per shift) could support 3-400 molding machines. The machines don't need full time attendants. Do we have an industrial engineer from the plastics industry in the house? I'm guessing. ++Lar (26 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.general)

Re: Lego To Close Molding, Processing at Enfield, CT plant

(...) The last time I was in the factory, there was probably 75 - 80 moulding machines. There was also the decorating and assembling lines, along with the various packing lines. One thing this will do is make it a LOT more difficult for groups to (...) (26 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.general)

Yup :-( Understanding the true bulk ordering system a few of the NZ AFOLs got and how long/hard it was to get...doesn't sould too fun. (...) Yeah.. :\ I don't (...) I also noticed that section, but here are some blurbs which caught my eye: What did we learn? <snip> We need to focus on strengthening our direct consumer access and on building stronger consumer relations. <snip> What have we (...)   Re: Lego To Close Molding, Processing at Enfield, CT plant

(...) Eh, Swedes, Danes, they're really just the same. (Ack, don't *EVER* say that to a Swede *or* a Dane...although the Norwegians might get a kick out of it, unless you generalise them into it too.) I wonder what the lugnet.loc.dk and (...)   Re: Lego To Close Molding, Processing at Enfield, CT plant

(...) I am unclear about what parts of the Enfield plant are closing. Obviously, the molding facility is closing, but what do they mean by the processing ( (URL) ). It was a long time ago (1987) but there were more than 100 people working in the (...) (26 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.general)

Re: Further Article on Lego ceasing Manufacturing at Enfield, CT location

(...) It sounds like they are just closing a small part of it, the manufacturing side. They are keeping the distribution and headquarters in Enfield.   Re: Lego To Close Molding, Processing at Enfield, CT plant

(...) I'm no engineer, but DK's Ultimate Lego book talks about the injection plant called 'Kornmarken' (must mean something in Danish) at TLG's headquarters in Billund. It says that the injection moulding machines require VERY LITTLE human (...) (26 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.general)

Re: How long before the Mosaic is back?

After clicking that I accept the agreement (the second time, since the first time just tells me that this is a demo version to play with) the 3/4 of the screen where I would expect Mosaic (...)   Lego Reps

Are there Lego reps in each state. I have found that the local toy stores here in Idaho are not very informed about new Lego products. Is there a Lego rep here? I usually try to inform them, but I don't think they really believe what I say. Rose (26 years ago, 29-Nov-00, to lugnet.lego.direct)

All of their Americas marketing is done out of there, distribution, etc. There's a HUGE shows & events department there - probably 30,000+ sq ft of workspace and (...) Much as I'd like to believe that, I bet money was wasted on other things, trying to "grow the brand". I wonder how much they blew on the RockRaiders, with the comic scenes and video game and total-theme research. I wonder the same about Action Team. (...) (26 years ago, 29-Nov-00, to lugnet.lego)
