I know how frustrating it is to be out of parts. Let's see, he bulk
plates? The only place you can come close is the Lego Shop at Home
service. (Phone number is 1-800-453-4652) They have them in black,
white, red, and blue. They also have a pack of doors & windows (5149),
which are still better than the Town Junior arrangement. You might be
able to get some from Auczilla, and Ebay as well. Any other suggestions,
fellow Lugnet'ers?

Just one:  LDraw.  Never run out of plates, windows, or bricks, and it's
absolutely free :-)

As long as you have a variety of real life parts to work with, you can try out
various construction ideas, then use LDraw to make a complete building with
your ideas.  Of course you don't get a physical copy of your work, but using
POV-Ray, you can make some stunning pictures for others to see.
