here is how TLG could do bulk ordering:
offer the piece price book for say $50 or whatever to interested buyers. small
run of these does not cost much i would not think. the book would have a
picture of the part, the TLG part number (so there is no confusion) and the
cost of the part.
it would also have the colors that the part is currently available in so that
people do not try to order clear blue starwars engine pieces or something
stupid like that.
even better than a book would be a web site with the info but i think given
TLG's lax attitude to the internet in the part that would be unlikely.
you fill in an order form and send it off to TLG with the part nuumbers and
prices etc
the way to avoid problems at TLG's end is to have a minumum order of say $500
or $1000

And have minimum quantities of each item, or have 'multiples' of each item -
you can only order pieces in multiples of 100, for example...

They have pieces stored in bulk in their warehouse.  They wouldn't have to
count them to fill orders, fill the order by *weight*.  Have some sort of
disclaimer in the catalog saying something like "If you order 100 of
something, you might get 98, you might get 102."  Use a scale with built-in
'parts counting' functionality.  It would take less than a minute to weigh out
one item.  Dump them in plastic bags, slap a label on the bag, and go on to
the next item.

Perhaps not allow ordering on all items, start with the simple stuff first:
bricks, plates, roof pieces, windows - then go on to other pieces.  (25,000
grey/tan/brown/dark grey/black 2x4 bricks, anyone?  Imagine what the GMLTC
'ore pit' section would look like with those! <sigh>)

TLG:  Charge enough so you're making a *profit* on this, and we would be HAPPY
to send you even more of our money...  Or, just continue to put out "Town Jr."
sets and watch your company go down the drain...
