I don't know about "rider" (I hope to remain at least semi-ignorant of
insurance terms, and maintain some of my humanity :-) but our Lego
collection is covered by our homewoner's policy. We just gave them a number
based upon our total piece count and multiplied by an arbitrary
cost-per-piece figure. I think it was something line $.30 a piece, but I'd
have to look it up. The up shot is: our insurance agent took the number
without hesitation, knowing that we were talking about a "childrens' toy".
Whether an adjuster will have the same attitude remains to be seen.
My big concern, however, is that I am uncomfortable with the cost-per-piece
method. I would prefer a more honest appraisal. I could mix this in with
my set inventory based upon original cost, but that doesn't properly reflect
the value of the pieces to *me*.
Cheers,
