I discovered a major blooper back in the 1980's. Set 517 (the smallest of the
basic sets back in the early 1980's) had 3 variations of the same set.
Supposedly this set had (2) 1x2x2 yellow windows, and (2) 1x4x3 yellow frames
(with red panes). I had purchased 90 (!!) of these sets about 15 years ago,
just to get the yellow windows for my "One Shell Plaza" 25 story office
building (it's on my website).
Well to my surprise some of the boxes showed 4 of the 2x2 windows on the box
piece display, and had 4 windows inside. A few of the boxes showed 4 windows
on the box, but only had 2 windows inside. The vast majority of these had 2
windows on the box, and 2 windows inside.
In all my years, that was the major LEGO blooper that I came across.
