Eric,
Many Lego collectors think that the first Lego Motor came in 1966 with the
beginning of the Train System (which came out in mid-1966 in Europe). Here it
shows that the first Lego motor actually came out in late 1965 in the USA to be
used with the first Lego gears, which were a Samsonite exclusive (until TLG came
out with their own gears in 1970 for Europe only, the two types are not
compatible). So in a sense, the first motors were TECHNIC, and not TRAIN!
