(Spent 1 1/2 weeks without my PC due to the "Sasser" virus... but it's
recovered)....
I agree, the 2x2 inside corner bricks are missing from the new service packs, as
is the 2x2 gable connector ridge slope (the one that looks like someone took a
bite out of the slope). It's not that they are discontinued. The new Harry
Potter Shriek Shack has 4 of these in white, a color not seen in this part in
over 20 years.
As for the roof ridge equivalent, do you mean the double convex, double concave
ridge slope that hasn't been available since 1972? (And even then in only red or
blue.) This piece can basically be made from (1) 1x2 half pyramid slope, (1)
1x2 ridge slope, and (1) gable connector ridge slope. The only difference is
that instead the 2x2 area that the double convex/double concave ridge slope
takes up, the 3 pieces just mention take up an area of 2x3.
My upcoming CD/book discusses the old discontinued 2x2 double convex/double
concave ridge slope, as well as the 4 variations of the 2x2 gable connector
ridge slope. In fact the CD will have about 11 pages devoted to sloped bricks.

Agreed I just looked at the shop.lego.com page, and found these (and 2 new train sets!), but - I need 19 red concaves - why does TLC not make them, as well as the small 2x2 top tile for those? They would be very useful! 2x2 convex/concave (...) (20 years ago, 29-Jul-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.lego)
