I thought the use of those prefixes goes waaayyy back to earlier times...like
maybe latin? The main source of most of the romance languages?
DU --- double/two
QUAT - Four
primo--perhaps coming from "prime" meaning "first"??
(or some interpretation there of)
haven't checked my entymology here, so I may not be entirely correct...
I think Duplo first came into being around 1967, and Primo in 1995, though...
