Chat with Kate & Jake —René Hoffmeister
Hello, On www.1000steine.de, we had a Chat session this evening with Kate and Jake from LEGO Direct. First I have to say a huge "Thank you", since both ventured to chat with one of the most critical communities in the world - with the griping (...) (21 years ago, 8-Dec-03, to lugnet.general) !!

Re: Chat with Kate & Jake —Erik Olson
That's pretty cool. Thanks for bringing that over to LUGNET René! (21 years ago, 9-Dec-03, to lugnet.general)

Re: Chat with Kate & Jake —Tobbe Arnesson
Next time I'm sure Jake will have a text ready to paste: "Can't talk about the future but nothings dead and new stuff is always comming!" Or similar. Poor Jake *shakes head* Oh! Thanks for posting it here too, it's been a while since German in (...) (21 years ago, 9-Dec-03, to lugnet.general)

(...) And here is a link with a full translation of the chat talk to English, as Volker " Marmaris" Draschka did it (Thanks Volker!): (URL) Godt Ben (21 years ago, 9-Dec-03, to lugnet.general)

(...) Yes, Thank You, Volker! This is one part of the chat I find *very* interesting: ===...=== Q: LEGOLAND model makers order parts from Billund in bulk, they just fax/email they need a K8 full of this or that and they get it. Granted they have to (...) (21 years ago, 9-Dec-03, to lugnet.general)

There is this really big piece of land/island stuck out in the middle of the ocean... somewhere... out there... who would also like to be able to even get anything like this, available to them... Btw, that land is called 'Australia'... anyone (...) (21 years ago, 10-Dec-03, to lugnet.general, lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Chat with Kate & Jake / translation to English —René Hoffmeister
Hi Mike (...) We spoke not about _any_ bulk order, but about _the_ bulk order we planned 8 month ago and which isn't finished so far. It's some kind of testing it, so we're still waiting for simplier possibilities to order in bulk too. But as Kate (...) (21 years ago, 10-Dec-03, to lugnet.general)

Re: Chat with Kate & Jake / translation to English —Duncan Titmarsh
(...) In reply Yes you can order bricks from Lego Direct Europe. The price is set at per brick and not by weight, and I was quoted 7 to 10 pence per brick so it is still cheaper to buy them through pick a brick or S@H. I didn't put and order in. (...)           Re: Chat with Kate & Jake / translation to English —Jason J. Railton
(...) As for the bricks that are shipped to the Lego brand stores, if you ask about buying a lot of any one brick that's in the range, the brand stores can't sell them any cheaper no matter how much you want to buy. As I understand it, once a carton (...) (20 years ago, 8-Jan-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Chat with Kate & Jake / translation to English —John Gerlach
(...) OK, I had to think about this for a while - but it does raise a question: How do they determine how many PaB cups of bricks are in a carton? Do they just guestimate, or do they fill a cup and work off of that? Because, AFOLs (and kids!) who (...) (20 years ago, 8-Jan-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Chat with Kate & Jake / translation to English —Jason J. Railton
(...) I haven't a clue. I got the impression that a newly arrived box full of any one type of brick equals a certain number of sales, so I presume it's based on how many cups you can fill from an average box of average parts. Some people will get (...) (20 years ago, 8-Jan-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Chat with Kate & Jake / translation to English —Reinhard "Ben" Beneke
(...) Hi Mike, as given in the other answers: there has been a one-time-test-order, which is not finished so far. The (not really all) available parts have been listed in this message on the 1000steine-board. The prices are higher than PaB, partly (...)         Re: Chat with Kate & Jake —Ray Sanders
(...) Nice to see confirmation of something that I have suspected for a while now. TLC is heading in many directions, but Bionicle (regardless of what some people think of it) is what is keeping the mothership afloat and steaming. Ray (21 years ago, 9-Dec-03, to lugnet.general)
