I think you're missing the point. The general consensus, I believe, is that
introducing new colours is acceptable. It's the REPLACING of one colour with a
slightly different shade that's causing all this ruckus - especially when the
colour(s) in question has/have been around for a LONG time.
The minifig might have replaced the "maxifig", but then again the maxifig wasn't
around for as long as the grey brick...
