Jeff,
  that may not be such a good idea.  Most grocery stores only accept
High Density PolyEthylene (HDPE) for recycling (it the #2 in the
recycling symbol).  That's the type of bags most retail establishments
use.  As James Brown said, LEGO bags are probably film plastic (#5).
Mixing the wrong types of materials into the recycling stream can cause
entire loads of recyclables to be landfilled.
