It was not attached at the bottom or sides, & wasn't very strong. It sat on
top of tiles.
If I were to build another I would put some type of pin underneath that slid
along in a groove.

To attach it at the sides would be difficult as it turns 90 degrees & moves
two studs in/out.

Good point.  However, it wouldn't need to do so.  You could put a
plate hinge on the top of the door and have it simply hinge to the
side.  The other "runner" on the top would be on the extreme end
rather than in the middle of the panel.
