Well, my time is almost here. This Saturday is the big day and with all of the
hoopla and hubbub that has proceeded this event, I somehow managed to score
what I consider the next biggest part of the wedding aside from the bride's
dress: the cake topper. While looking for your traditional topper and being
disgusted with the atrocities that are being sold to unsuspecting couples, my
bride (in a moment of weakness) agreed to allow me to create a topper out of
LEGO (with a few exceptions). So, I set out to win the approval of my bride and
created several "demo" MOCs to get a feel of what she would approve/disapprove.

MOC #1: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=206786
She didn't like the parrot. I thought he looked kinda nice up there.

MOC #2: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=206787
My personal favorite. I thought it fit the last 2 months perfectly. It was
vetoed with prejudice.

MOC #3: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=206788
I really didn't care for this one at all.

MOC #4: The final product!

I want to thank several people that helped make this happen (on time, that
is). First off, my thanks to Jim Foulds for the inspiration:

Next, my thanks to Chris Kline of CUSTOM MiniFigures ETC
(http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=minifigure) for the exceptional minifigs
and timely service.

Next, a special thanks to Tim Courtney (http://www.zacktron.com) for what he
called a "handful of flowers". He has some strange obsession with LEGO flowers
and I'm told that he has about 1 blue tub full of them. I guess everyone has
their "sensitive side".

And finally, an extra special thanks goes out to Joel Kuester of futureBRICK
(http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=septenemae) for being the ONLY person on
Bricklink to have parts #30055 and #30056 in white! It was also very handy that
he lives in the same state as I do...and he's also in the same train club as I
am...hmmm...Joel, are you following me?? Anyway, that's been my adventure. I
hope everyone has enjoyed it. I know I did.

Alex, Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!! Thanks for the nod on inspiration. Your cake toppers were very entertaining and I am sure the guests will get a kick from the one you have chosen.
