Hello.

My name is Matt.

And I'm a minifigaholic.

I just spent $30.00 to get the Spider Man minifig.

Pity me.

___

So, the only items in the new 2002 set line-up that really interested me
were the two Spider Man movie sets. Of course, I thought it would be CRAZY
to pay $30.00 just to get LEGO Spidey. I swore up and down that I'd never
pay that...I'd just wait for the figs to show up on BrickLink.

Right.

So my Wal*Mart had both the Spidey and Green Goblin sets out today. I HAD to
buy them (boy is the wife peeved!).

Neat things in the sets:

-The LEGO Spidey (DUH!)
-The entire Green Goblin fig...the body, legs, head, arms and helmet are all
in a brighter green color, the hands and hips are a flat version of regular
green. The design of the printing is great...and he has full printing on the
back of the head and torso.
-The Mary Jane fig has a cool regular face (reverses to a scared face that
I'm not thrilled with), rust orange ponytail hair, and maroon torso, hips
and legs.
- Spidey and Goblin both have the single hollow stud backplate (red and
green respectively) and clear posing sticks.
-The Goblin's flying platform has flat silver elements! I wasn't expecting
his...way cool! 2 of the new quarter slopes (with a decent purple bat wing
pattern) and 1 of the Racers 2X2 plates modified with flare fenders (with a
good orange circle scheme).
-White climbing vine for Spidey's swingin' web; white net for webbing.
-Trans anti-freeze orange minifig heads.

Everything else is pretty much standard fare: also, the sticker sheet with
the NYPD graphics is useless-small, unreadable graphics and typical poor
printing.

But I got LEGO Spidey!

WHOO-HOO!

Matt

This, from the man who co-invented Stubbies™?  Why would
   you even want to recover?

Right.

Like anyone's going to give up a Spidey this early in the game,
   for less than $8, anyways.

So my Wal*Mart had both the Spidey and Green Goblin sets out today. I HAD to

Solution:  Fix priorities.  Bachelordom = +LEGO -Family +work
              +disposable income.  Yes.

That's very cool.  I noticed that right off--and without the mask,
one can make him into a very cool reptile-alien.

-The Mary Jane fig has a cool regular face (reverses to a scared face that
I'm not thrilled with), rust orange ponytail hair, and maroon torso, hips
and legs.

Uh, mine's standard orange.  Is yours somehow different?

- Spidey and Goblin both have the single hollow stud backplate (red and

I love that stick.  I'm not sure what I'll use it for, but I love it.
   The stud-vest is neat, too.

-The Goblin's flying platform has flat silver elements! I wasn't expecting
his...way cool! 2 of the new quarter slopes (with a decent purple bat wing

Ugh.  Here's where we part ways, ol' buddy.  I was *so* hoping those
were light grey--because I wanted to brasso them down and use them
in other things.  I can still do it, but they'll look odd.

-Trans anti-freeze orange minifig heads.

Jango Fett's Slave I (7153) has three of these too.  They seem to be
in danger of being very common this year.

WHOO-HOO!

FUTted nowhere different.  I AM INDECISION PERSONIFIED.

I would have paid that actually...now I've got a bunch of scrap to deal
with. Ah well...such is the minifigaholics burden.

No go. No way. No how.

Yup...he's pretty much Serpentor already. Yo Joe!

Nope...you're correct. I mis-oranged. (Is that really such a surprise in
this day and age of multiLEGOorangedom?)

- Spidey and Goblin both have the single hollow stud backplate (red and
green respectively) and clear posing sticks.

Um...posing?

Personally, I've been wooshing the Goblin around the house with it, with
LEGO Spidey dangling underneath the flying platform on his web. WHOOSH!

I like how they are including the stick/vest in the new Extreme Island sets
to move the skateboarders around and such...good simple playability.

-The Goblin's flying platform has flat silver elements! I wasn't expecting
his...way cool! 2 of the new quarter slopes (with a decent purple bat wing
pattern) and 1 of the Racers 2X2 plates modified with flare fenders (with a

in other things.  I can still do it, but they'll look odd.

I think they'll look great with dark grey...I'm already contemplating
several more instances of the parts in a new mecha design.

-Trans anti-freeze orange minifig heads.

Jango Fett's Slave I (7153) has three of these too.  They seem to be
in danger of being very common this year.

I was actually hoping for more jack o'lantern heads for the Goblin's
throwing bombs, but I guess that's another change in the movie. Sigh.

I too am in the same dilemma as Matt was…
Thankfully I’m far more disciplined…I think?
I'm  just  gonna  have  to  wait  till  the  little  ol’
Web-Crawler becomes more readily available!

          Here’s what I'm depending upon.
        (what my sanity’s  dependin’ upon)

(2) Two things:
---------------

1st.      That the Studio line will issue a Spider-Man & Villain
mini set late in the year, or possible early 2003 for about $4.99.

or

2nd. That a whole new batch of minifig collectable 3-packs will
be available from Shop@Home.   Similar to the previous ones:
http://guide.lugnet.com/set/3341      that came out during 2000.

          http://news.lugnet.com/year/2002/?n=364
I'd be ecstatic to see a minifig limited edition collectors set
with 2 Imperial Guards     http://guide.lugnet.com/set/7166
                                      and a special Snow trooper.
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=13448

And The Spider-Man limited edition collectors 3-pack minifig
sets should have a Spidey, Mary-Jane, and a Green Goblin.

If this is danger, then hazards my middle name!
~For I simple adore the trans-pumpkin-heads!!!

         ¤Sincerely,

Yes, I was practically inclined to post cause both Matt and LFB already did.
~You must understand that, if ever two of us initiates a conversation the
third person is utterly compelled to join in…Why?  Well I don’t know,
that’s just the way our system happens to work…           ;)

That's my only disappointment.  I wanted to make an army of Jack-O-Lantern
head undead but don't want to buy a whole bunch of Troll-in-the-Bathroom
sets to do so.
