Naw...forget the soaking bit. Just sort the Lego pieces by color into pillow
cases and add them to a regular load of laundry in an automatic clothes
washer.
After the spin cycle is done, spread them on towels to dry and you will have
clean, smoke free Lego. The damage done is negligible--even Trans pieces will
look great! Obviously, anything that might break should still be washed by
hand but 95% of all pieces (even decorated and stickered) will look great
after
a ride in a clothes washer.
If anyone wants tips for washing Lego this way send me an email. Someday I
will write up an FAQ item about it....
