  Engine 71 - New Fire Truck
 
Anyone familiar with some of my recent posts to LUGNET will know that I usually gripe and complain about what I don't like about LEGO these days. Well, even I was getting sick of listening to myself. For the ladder on the side, I managed to get a not bad result by using 1x3 technic liftarms and flex tubes on my skip truck: (URL) was inspired by the ladder on Rosco's tower crane which used axles (...) (...) went with the 1x16 beams because of how the ladder hangs off the side of the truck. Basically there are two 1x2 hinge bricks set into the side of the truck, at the level of the top of the back wheel. Attached to each hinge brick is a 1x2 plate (...) (...) pre-minifig Lego style (the cab of the truck) with more modern Lugnetesque design ideas (the details on the rear). Also, I especially like your control panel which uses the Technic bricks with the short pegs to simulate knobs, gauges, and hose (...)
