    Re: Fence colours —Simon Robinson
Excuse my ignorance but I can't quite figure out what a gable connector is (even after looking at the 2152 set picture.) (Come to that, what's a gable?) Another roof brick I'd be interested in is the one for inside corners - I remember they used to (...) (26 years ago, 1-Mar-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Fence colours —Gary R. Istok
(...) No problem Simon, a gable (in the context I am using it) is a peak roof piece. A gable connector is one of those 2x2 (regular sloped) peak pieces that looks like someone took a bite out of it. In a roof construction, it is used when you use (...)       (...) L-shaped, too. At the corner of the L, you use a 1*2 half pyramid _and_ a 2*2 gable piece. Jasper (26 years ago, 1-Mar-99, to lugnet.general)

         Re: Fence colours —Simon Robinson
Wow! Thanks, Gary (and Steve for your other reply). That was an impressive explanation - answered several questions. And I know have another word in my vocabulary (gable) :) I haven't heard the term 'dormer' before so I assume that's a US one. I'll (...) (26 years ago, 2-Mar-99, to lugnet.general)

Samsonite (USA) vs. TLG (Europe) —Gary R. Istok
(...) Simon, Here are 2 examples of what was available in the USA (Samsonite) in 1961 (first year LEGO available there), and what was available in the UK in 1961. (The USA brochure is from Bill Katz/Joe Lauher, the UK brochure is from Ray Gal.) (...) (26 years ago, 2-Mar-99, to lugnet.general)

         Re: Fence colours —Steve Bliss
(...) Well, they put 'Samsonite' on each stud. But they had to compress it so much, it came out looking exactly like 'Lego'. Steve (26 years ago, 2-Mar-99, to lugnet.general)

         Re: Fence colours —Kevin Wilson
(...) Nope, those are both standard terms for parts of buildings in the UK, too. (ex-Brit speaking here). Kevin (26 years ago, 2-Mar-99, to lugnet.general)

         Re: Fence colours —Richard Dee
On Tue, 2 Mar 1999 10:02:20 GMT, Simon Robinson uttered the following profundities... (...) Not to worry if you don't have one, I have a few. The black roof brick service pack, 5216, is *not* in the 1999 European Service brochure. :o( Nor do we get (...) (26 years ago, 3-Mar-99, to lugnet.general)

        Re: Fence colours —Steve Bliss
(...) A gable is the peak of the roof. The gable connector is the piece used to make two gables meet. It's a 1x2 peak with inverted slope sticking out the side. From the side, it looks something like this: +----- | / | / +--- Steve (26 years ago, 1-Mar-99, to lugnet.general)
