...but looking in my shoe box with old Lego (ca: 1960-67) I still have one
tire for each wheel. Some of the wheels are broken in the center, and the
brass axle is gone. The tires feel a bit dry, but can still be taken off and
put on again without apparent damage.
Some of the tires are not gray but beige (very off-white) - I think these are
the oldest.

The wheels I remember from childhood (late sixties, early seventies) had a short brass colored axle that was inserted into (...) (24 years ago, 29-Mar-01, to lugnet.general)
