Some "brass axle" wheels also had black treadless tyres - some of these were pnuematic, some were solid, but didn't last as well as the grey solid tyres, at least not in my collection. | | | | | | (...) That's odd. The big black motor that's like a stack of bricks 4x8, 4x12, and 4x8x1.33? Mine has one axle hole offset 2 studs from one of the paris of metal-pin-holes. Compare (URL) and (URL) think set 901 only came in black, but 900 came in both blue and black (Gary can probably tell you for sure) - mine's blue, but no (...) No holes for Technic axles (though I could press a medium Technic gear onto the studs of one of the 2x2 red hubs to get it to drive a Technic creation). (...) | | | | I will check some of my old 1962-64 LEGO Wheels and wheel sets (#314, 400, 401, 402), but I think what I state below is fairly accurate: LEGO wheels first came out in 1962. The oldest wheels had the red 2x2 wheels with gray tires, and white 2x4 (...) (23 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.general)
