wWITP (weekly What Is This Part)

I found two of these  in a bag of older parts. One in blue, one in red. They
look like a 2 x 2 brick, but they have rotating pins on two opposite sides. Each
of these pins has two fingers and can connect with some of the parts such as the
flexible arm parts seen in the Aquazone series sets. They also have a hole
between the 4 studs on top, but not an axle hole.

Does anyone know the name and/or part number ?

(...) I don't know the name or part number (assuming the part actually has a number) but it was used as the main piece for the torso of Maxifigs in the late 70s, early 80s. The 2 pins are used to attach the arms of the figs and the hole on top is (...) (24 years ago, 12-Dec-00, to lugnet.general)
