I got an email message asking to take an online survey about
Mindstorms. It wasn't from a Lego email address or Lego URL but claimed
to be from Lego so I was concerned about giving them my address (for a
free Lego keychain) even though they said it would not be sold (only
used for market research). The company's web page says the are a
professional market research and survey company, which made it sound
legit enough for me to take it.
One question concerned me since it may point to a direction Lego is
considering taking:
If LEGO develops a line of collectors items, such as vintage airplanes,
cars or motorcycles, how interested would you be in purchasing them?

[ ] Not at all interested
My question: what exactly is a vintage airplane, car, or motorcycle? Is
it a normal set that builds an old plane (cool), or a "collectors item"
that is meant to have a small production run and be expensive (not cool
at all).
It doesn't appear to have any sort of access control (no userid or
password assigned to each prospective participant or in the URL). This
is probably bad since anyone can take the survey and get a free
keychain. Hopefully they'll learn from this mistake. :-)

Recently you (or someone in your household) returned a product
registration
card or called about your LEGO MINDSTORMS Robotics Invention System. We
would like to invite the main user of this product to participate in a
Web-based survey about their experience with LEGO MINDSTORMS. Survey
responses will help us do the best job we can meeting customer needs and
interests.
The survey takes about 15 minutes to complete. To thank you for your
input,
we will send you a unique LEGO key chain that can't be found at retail.
Although we will ask for your address so we can send you this gift, all
information collected in this survey will be kept confidential and will
be
used only for market research purposes. No information from this study
will
be sold to list publishers, and no one will try to sell you anything as
a
result of your participation in this research. We simply want to hear
your
opinions. Answers will be combined with other people's answers and only
reported in combination with other responses.
