As a follow-up to some recent discussions about the humor injected into some
of the displays found in the LEGO Soccer Bus, I wanted to point out one thing
that I noticed. I originally saw this when checking out Steve Chuck's
pictures of the bus. The picture in question is of the zeppelin which is
flying above Soccer Town. Later, I saw the display myself at the tour stop in
Tyson's Corner, VA. Here's the picture:

You'll notice that the name of the zeppelin is the "BOB" DOBBS. I'm not
really surprised that no one else has commented on this reference since it is
fairly obscure for "normal" folks.
Anyway, "Bob" Dobbs is something of an underground, fringe character who
supposedly heads up the anti-cult cult of proclaimed superior mutants called
The Church of the SubGenius. Basically the church is a religious parody (or
is it?) that has been around for the last couple of decades. It's based in
Dallas, TX and more information can be found at:
http://www.subgenius.com
If you're interested in hooking up with a "religion" that offers a triple-your-
money-back guarantee of salvation and will, at times, make you laugh so hard
you puke then check out the website above.
Anyway, I found it interesting that one of the builders was able to insert a
reference to "Bob" in this display that has travelled all around the country.
Of course, I'm posting this message with the realization that the possibility
of getting a LEGO fan to stop obsessing over bricks long enough to check
out "Bob" is about as likely as getting one the SubGenius mutants interested
in playing with LEGO bricks.
But it might happen, after all there's at least two of us who share these
interests - me and one builder at LEGO.
Any other mutant LEGO fans out there?
