On the weekend I bought a stack of small Lego sets, and much to my
5 year old son's dismay I wouldn't open them all at once (or let him,
either).  He asked why and I said that I wanted to spread out the
enjoyment.  He asked what I meant, so I told him it was like waiting for
Christmas morning, half the fun was in the waiting.  He thought about that
for a bit and then said "You're not going to save them for Christmas are
you Mum?" I said no, but I could if I liked and he replied:
"But Mum! You'll be too old for Lego at Christmas!!"

:-)

I sure hope he's wrong!

Sure he is! I don't know and don't want to ask for your age, but I turned 40
recently and received a 8862 Backhoe Grader from my brother Giulio. I did
feel as happy as when I received Lego being ten or twelve. Not only because
it's a great set I desired a lot, but mainly because it was Lego and not a
sweater, a tie or other stuff people as old as me are expected to receive
for their birthday.

Back to kids, my 9 and 7 son and daughter find absolutely not strange to say
"That's my father's Lego" to their friends, who sometimes show a surprised
or amused face but most of the times don't.

PS Deidre I didn't miss the fact this is x-posted to .au, you know what I
mean, but I don't care at all :-)
