The designers of the (almost universally agreeably) excellent 800x
Technic Droid line seem to have found some good uses for these.
Other technic sets have demonsrated novel uses of these also.

I don't think it's about themes at all. I think that the general
'dumbing down' of Lego across the board is a problem. I do agree
however, that it has plagued some themes (Town) more than others.

| (...) I think the Throwbots are way out there, nothing special. The Cyberslam series is kinda corny also. But the king of em all. The worst of the worst is the Time Traveler, aka extra pieces series. I have seen pre-school kids make more realisic (...) (25 years ago, 10-Feb-00, to lugnet.general)
