This is also used in some of the town "digger" sets.. 2 of them in red I
believe.. come in the town construction service pack from S@H also,
sorry don't know the number off hand though it's close to the number for
the black roof pack.. someone accidently reversed the number when I
ordered some and I got a bunch of those constructions packs..

If you can't tell from the scan, it's a black 1x2 brick that's
functionally equivalent to a 1x2 Technic beam.  However, on
each side there is a notch from the axle hole to the studs.

Is this an old type of beam from the era of those pre-technic
parts (e.g. red bushings) or something else?

What sets had it?
