Well, on my first round of Target clearance shopping I snagged:
(3) Sith Infiltrator's $7.44 ea.
(3) Gungan Subs $12.74 ea.
(1) Rock Raider's HQ $19.74
(3) Ninja minifig packs $1.64 ea.
(1) Motor pack $9.44
Picked a bunch more of the smallish Ninja sets, but can't remeber now. I was
shocked all the Pod Racers and TIE/Y's were gone. Grrrr...
I went back today to see if they turned up any new stock. Managed to snag 2
more motor packs, and I finally got my $22 Pod Racer set. Sweet! Gotta love
those Star Wars collector's! Very predictable. Why do I mention the SW
collector's? Well, I'll tell you. I was primarily a Star Wars toy collector
and picked up a little Lego along the way. I've gone about 180 degrees in the
past few months. Anyway, I learned a little bit about the SW people who would
buy up all the rare or hard to find figures. A lot of times, they have
someone on the "inside". These people set things aside for them. So they
don't need to interact, the employee "hides" the item, and lets their friend
know where to look. Or the person doesn't have enough money to buy ALL of an
item, they hide the stash themselves. Where is the hiding spot of choice?
Under the bottom shelf! Now, I have never hidden anything and think it is a
lowly practice, but I do check there, and have spoiled my fair share of
stashes. I have either bought the items that were hidden, or I put them back
on the shelf where someone else can have the joy of finding what they seek.
Thankfully, Target is finally catching on. If you look close at the bottom
shelf now, you will see they are starting to screw it down. Either that or
they are incorporating brackets to hold them down. Hopefully stashing will
become a thing of the past. Toy car collector's do this A LOT as well.

| (...) IMPRESSIVE. I wish we had Targets in Maine. :( (...) I don't know if you meant to do that, but "bottom shelf"- "lowly practice" :) Ryan (25 years ago, 11-Jan-00, to lugnet.general)
