Re: Do you build sets you buy for parts? —Mike Reed
Out of curiosity, am I one of the few who buy the sets for the sets. I don't typically build to many MOCs, and if I do it is from an old carrying case full of misc. pieces. Also, I store all my sets in their original boxes with instructions. Am I in (...) (25 years ago, 7-Jan-00, to lugnet.general)

(...) I'm not sure. There seem to be quite a few people who do both, also. I'm a "sets are parts packs for my MOCs" kinda guy, though. I think the only sets that are staying assembled right now on my shelf are 6067 Guarded Inn, 928 Galaxy Explorer, (...) (25 years ago, 7-Jan-00, to lugnet.general)

No you're not alone in this, Though I fear we are a minority :( I do it a little different though because I do build a lot of MOC's. I buy multiple copies of a set in order to have parts to build with, though one always stays in it's box after it's (...) (25 years ago, 9-Jan-00, to lugnet.general)

Re: Do you build sets you buy for parts? —Tobias Möller
I used to build all my sets I buy. Then, after a few years, when I hade rebuilt them, lost parts etc. I mixed them in my big bucket. I used to do that way, but now, I buy some sets just for parts. But that is the BASIC sets, like 3040. My Star (...) (25 years ago, 9-Jan-00, to lugnet.general)

(...) Don't feel too bad, Mike. I have many sets I built, wanting to change it, make it better, etc. but have not had the time as of yet.
