  Re: rarest printed parts?

(...) I think it is B&W Diesel Engine maker, (at least, that's my english guess...I might be wrong). How about the UNICEF sides from Canada? I know they are fairly common compared with promo only stuff (at about 6K of them printed), but outside of (...) (21 years ago, 1-Mar-05, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Lego Factory Contest results

(...) I don't object to your viewpoint (I think it would be really great if it DID work like Cafepress), I'm merely pointing out there are other equally viable and (simpler) alternatives to the way the Lego Factory might function. Lego already sells (...) (21 years ago, 28-Feb-05, to lugnet.build.microscale, lugnet.build.contests, lugnet.general)

  AFOL clips

Hey guys, I'm trying to put together a collection of video clips about AFOLs. As you know, every year, rtlToronto puts out a yearly "Demo Reel" of our highlights. What I'm trying to do is to put together a "Global Demo Reel" for Jake. Do you have (...) (21 years ago, 28-Feb-05, to lugnet.org, lugnet.general, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Lego Factory Contest results

(...) Ah, I see. I did not understand that you thought the very idea of royalties (aside from their complexity) was an issue. However, on this I will also have to disagree. Without royalties, or some other tangible reward, I do not think the concept (...) (21 years ago, 28-Feb-05, to lugnet.build.microscale, lugnet.build.contests, lugnet.general)

  Re: rarest printed parts?

(...) Hi, I just got a mixed lot with a green "købmand" brick like the one in Clarks picture: (URL) has no "lego" print on the studs, but I can't spot any print inside the brick either; was there a time where Lego made bricks without imprint at all?   Re: 50 Years - Lego System of Play

(...) Well, the obvious one is the 8 different 1:87 metal wheeled trucks. Each one piece. But at a more subtle level - the roadsigns and garage have similar single-use pieces now. But the overall balance of Lego parts now is much more multi-use. (21 years ago, 26-Feb-05, to lugnet.general)

  Re: A spiral staircase

Anthony, great work! It's simple in it's design, not becoming bulky, and it's not too difficult to build (considering you have the right bricks :-). It makes you wonder why Lego it self never came up with this idea. It would be interesting to see (...) (21 years ago, 26-Feb-05, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.general)

  A spiral staircase

While grading the contest entries in the CCC2, I cam across (URL) Lord Mikal's Sweetie Pie Bakery>. Mikal turned the stairs in the backery one turn using what I thought was a 3x3 facet brick, which gave me the idea to go full circle, so to speak. It (...)   Re: Lego Factory Contest results

(...) Nevertheless, I stand by my original assertion that offering royalties isn't critical at all in making the Lego Factory concept a success - and just adds another layer of complexity to what is no doubt an already complex process.   Re: Should we ask TLG to use correct USA Anniversary Year?

(...) OK. Looks like USA AFOLs are ambivalent about this one. So when TLG does celebrate the 50th in the USA in 2023, many of you will be in your 50's and 60's. I will be celebrating my 63rd year of Lego (in the USA!) by then, if I'm still alive. (...) (21 years ago, 26-Feb-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.lego)

Re: LEGO Facts and Figures - tolerance on part sizes

(...) There's a big difference between the *mould* tolerance (the 5 micron one) and the tolerance on the resulting ABS part. Running the process faster, releasing the ABS parts at a higher temperature, will make the produced parts more irregular (...)   Re: Lego Factory Contest results

(...) Uhm, have you seen print-on-demand servcies such as www.cafepress.com or www.trafford.com? They do exactly that with t-shirts, mugs, books, CD's, etc. The paperwork/legal aspects of such a venture are easy to deal with following the Cafepress (...)   Re: LEGO Facts and Figures - tolerance on part sizes

Was Jake talking about the tolerances of the actual mould whereas the Lego facts are refering to the bricks themselves. The moulds would need to be much more accurate than the bricks that came out of them. Dunno, just a thought (21 years ago, 25-Feb-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.color, lugnet.lego)

  Re: Lego Factory Contest results

(...) A good tradeoff might be to give designers credit toward future purchases of their own. That stays "within the system" - no checks to mail, etc. When a designer's model is purchased, that designer's account gets a credit. Very simple, right? (...)
