  Re: X-Pod Dragons

(...) Nifty. The legs are cute. ~Kevin Blocksidge, who needs to get some X-Pods of his own (22 years ago, 15-Apr-04, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general, lugnet.castle, FTX)

Re: Imagine a house built out of LEGO

(...) Oh, LEGO bricks by far would be more expensive. Consider the fact that you can buy a 10' 2x4 for about $8. In terms of 2x4 bricks, that would be roughly 2160 pieces, and the dirt-cheapiest you've ever been able to buy bricks is at $0.01 per (...) (22 years ago, 15-Apr-04, to lugnet.general)

  X-Pod Dragons

(URL) I got a set of X-Pods the other day and decided to build something out of each pod. The Blue and Yellow turned into fairly un-inspired Jet and Car - but with the red I decided to build a dragon. I was inspired by Dave Eaton's (URL) from (...)   Imagine a house built out of LEGO

A thought for you to ponder: Although it would take an astronomical amount of pieces, would it be possible to build a house out of LEGO and live in it? Compared to traditional building materials, which would be more expensive? -Bryan (22 years ago, 14-Apr-04, to lugnet.general)

  Re: zemi.net

(...) I think that's where it went wrong. ALL the pictures I have looked at were wider than high, so all the thumbs are compressed sideways. Once you've noticed it, it's almost impossible to ignore... (...) noticeable? As I noticed it at once, yes, (...) (22 years ago, 14-Apr-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.space, lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: zemi.net

(...) Well sure... the distortion mostly isn't noticeable. If you can't tell what the pictures are showing, then what does it matter that they're horizontally squeezed? Many of your thumbs are not very helpful at actually determining what they take (...) (22 years ago, 14-Apr-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.space, lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Re: Where can I get these cool 3d Bionicle Parts ?

(...) Yes of course, because all Lego plastic-parts are expected to be virtual available. But these parts are complex and not everybody has them in his/her collection. So part-authors for such parts are welcome. Znap and other not so much liked (...) (22 years ago, 14-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.general, lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Where can I get these cool 3d Bionicle Parts ?

(...) Yes, if they are genuine Lego parts then of course they would be accepted. The limiting factor would be reviewers with enough familiarity with the parts to certify them. Chris (22 years ago, 14-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.general, lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Where can I get these cool 3d Bionicle Parts ?

(...) I think it would depend mostly on how well they're designed. The images you cited look more like gamer graphics (rough 3D geometrics covered with "skins" to fill in all of the more specific details), but LDraw is more about fully-functional (...)   Re: zemi.net

(...) Most images are centered enough that cropping an eighth off either side won't clip a significant part of the picture. You could also do more abstract thumbs that use only a small portion of the image, but then you would need some descriptions (...)   Re: Where can I get these cool 3d Bionicle Parts ?

(...) Well I can't really answer that but I can't think of any reason why they wouldn't be. I would love for someone to create ldraw files for some of the parts in the Bohrok line so I can finally make instructions for my (URL) destroyer droid>.   Re: Where can I get these cool 3d Bionicle Parts ?

I've gotten a couple of replies from people who might work on some Bionicle parts if they didn't think they'd be wasting their time or duplicating efforts. Here's a question : Would bionicle parts be allowed on the ldraw.org parts tracker ? (22 years ago, 14-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.general, lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: zemi.net

(...) Well, that's because that is exactly what we did. Jon wanted small, square thumbs. Since they were so small we figured the distortion wouldn't be that bad, compared to simply clipping the image. (This is all automatic of course. So cropping on (...)   Re: most wanted parts that dont exist?

Don't know if there's much interest in this, but I'll offer anyway: In my 3D AutoCAD class we model LEGO-ish parts - parts based on the LDraw measurement system, but do not exist as real LEGO. If anyone would like one of their "wish list" parts (...) (22 years ago, 13-Apr-04, to lugnet.general)
