(...) As a test, I sent a friend of mine a copy of the picture of the greys that started off this whole topic, minus the "old" and "new" labels. This friend is NOT an AFOL, just a regular, average parent/consumer...he played with LEGO as a kid, and (...) (22 years ago, 20-Nov-03, to lugnet.general)

(...) Fair enough. I used to think that way, and admittedly I still have a strong brand preference for LEGO, but those MB navy ships were too much to pass up IMHO. I personally feel the main LEGO company is a boat teetering on the edge of a (...) (22 years ago, 20-Nov-03, to lugnet.general, FTX)

So I figure "Why spend my money on something people say is starting to work when I've been (...) (22 years ago, 20-Nov-03, to lugnet.general, FTX)

(...) Once I got over the initial surprise, the cynic in me is starting to take over. Legoland parks and their Master Model Builders would fall into the category of "people with already large amounts of grey," wouldn't they? I would really like to (...) (...) Yes, it's a big deal. LEGO has been a rock. The bricks today still mate with the bricks that say PAT PENDING. The 1st red is today's red. Change for the sake of growth is good. Change for the sake of change is very bad. They can come up with (...) (22 years ago, 20-Nov-03, to lugnet.general, FTX)

The best (only?) good thing anyone has managed to say about the impending color change is that it will open up new building possibilities. I fail to see how a very slight change to a color does this. The limited LEGO palette has always been an (...) (22 years ago, 20-Nov-03, to lugnet.general)
