GDL Home Command:

Lots of snipping Unknown forms of Jump technology
could still open portals, but all known technologies are currently prevented.

Even the welfare lobby itself is split on the issue of providing these systems outside the sector to governments unable to develop the inhibitor technology themselves. The question is about balancing the need for developing societies to learn and grow, both technologically and socially, an an appropriate rate, against the immediate security risk that uncontrolled jumping poses.

The GDL has discovered that Jumpships and hyperspace vessels all have the same weakness, gravity. Yes, gravity works. Gravity could throw a vessel in jumpspace dangerously off course, cause misjumps, or rip the vessel to shreds. A vessel attempting a jump in a high gravity area would have a hard time just entering jumpspace. We propose a system of Gravitic Generators that could shield Val Central, or any system for that matter, from just such attacks. The only way in would be under sub-lightspeed power or to enter through a “lane” that is opened only for certain parties. With advanced sensors this generator shield could detect a unauthorized being dragged out of Jumpspace and then alert authorities. Such a system could be quite costly in the research stage alone, but would be quite a formidable defense against Jump-missiles.
