This is a call for interest in Evil Stevie's Pirate Game at BrickFest. I
am considering for this year a shorter game of 4 hours (perhaps up to 5
or 6). At Gen Con we managed a campaign game in 4 hours (with setup time
included) that got a few people upgrading, with a more awake GM and
setup done ahead of time, we could actually get some use of the upgraded
ships without running that much longer.

We're in for 3 people, at least for awhile.  Jamie and David have never
gamed before, we'll see if they want to play the whole time.

This should also serve as a call for help in providing ships. I was able
to transport 25 cutters, 3 class 2, and 1 class 3 ships to Gen Con. I
really almost want to transport fewer ships to Brick Fest (I need to
make some room for Brick Bazaar stuff). If we don't have many people
able to bring ships, I would be seriously inclined to only bring the
class 3 ship (which is a new MOC). There are also a few other things I
can do to trim space.

We've currently got:

1 Class 2 ship (a stock Cross Bone Clipper)
1 Class 3 ship (a stock Armada Flagship)

The AF needs some modification since it only has one gunport, it really
needs a 2nd. It also gets a rotating cannon.

1 Class 6 ship (a stock BSB)

A BSB is actually Class 7 (or did you mean a RBR, which is Class 6).

1 Class 7 ship (a custom (hurray for Jamie!))

Is this 3 or 4 center sections? We don't have ship record sheets for
Class 8 4 center section wide ships. We also are unlikely to use such
big ships (even if we do a battle game). However, all MOCs are
definitely welcome for display (and scaring people...).

If you need, we could probably construct a few cutters, and maybe one or
two brigs.

Brigs would be much more useful than cutters (I have plenty of cutters,
but we never seem to have enough class 2 ships). I build my brigs to
have about the same deck space as a regular class 2 ship, though Steve
Jackson actually makes his smaller. I need to resolve this at some point
(once Steve posts some pictures of his brigs).

Are there instructions/ideas available for scratch-building masts?

Steve Jackson has some ideas on his page. I have used the 2x2 plate
w/1x4 mast extension (
http://guide.lugnet.com/partsref/search.cgi?q=2422 ) with 1xN plates
laminated to form a mast for a cutter. I have then used 1x1 tile w/top
clip ( http://guide.lugnet.com/partsref/search.cgi?q=2555 ) to hold 1x2
plates with rod ( http://guide.lugnet.com/partsref/search.cgi?q=4623 ).
You could also use 1x2 plate with handle (
http://guide.lugnet.com/partsref/search.cgi?q=2540 ) or
http://guide.lugnet.com/partsref/search.cgi?q=30043 .

The space seat ( http://guide.lugnet.com/partsref/search.cgi?q=4598 )
can also be used as a mast supporter.

Most other bracket type deals don't work so well since you really want a
1xN mast, and other brackets don't give you the half stud offset
necessary to center the mast.
