  Re: Pirate Game Rules Thoughts

(...) My reading is pretty much in line with Chris here. But then again, I'm a metricating fool. The big problem with plotting, as I see it, is that when ships close in, independent plotting loses its connection to reality. If anything, I'd suggest (...)   Re: Pirate Game Rules Thoughts

(...) It seemed to me that getting the hang of plotting took a few turns for most people and then they could mostly do it in their sleep. When I've played, I typically had my next turn plotted long before the previous turn was resolved. Do the (...) (23 years ago, 2-Mar-02, to lugnet.gaming, lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Gaming at AFOL cons

Another point re: dedicated rooms. I had dedicated a significant amount of luggage space to piratical decor, almost none of which got used because there was both no time to put it up and no place to put it. Such nonsense DOES add to the experience (...) (23 years ago, 2-Mar-02, to lugnet.gaming)

  Lego Car Wars, and Origins/GenCon

I've thought about Lego Car Wars, but my thoughts right now just run to "use Lego to build the vehicles and scenery, and then play." Which would be fun and get attention, but it's just using Lego instead of regular playing pieces . . . it doesn't (...) (23 years ago, 2-Mar-02, to lugnet.gaming)

  Re: Gaming at AFOL cons

(...) I've had a perpetual order at my local retailer since October to hold a copy of each item for me. So I hope that your date isn't vapor. I'm looking forward to it. And what Frank said: have you thought about LEGOizing it? (...) (...) (23 years ago, 1-Mar-02, to lugnet.gaming)

  Re: Gaming at AFOL cons

(...) I think perhaps Matthew set the goals for BricksWest a little too high. Certainly fun was had by all, and I hope Matthew doesn't get stuck with any bills. (...) There can be an intimacy in a smaller game, and clearly the Pirate Game can be fun (...) (23 years ago, 1-Mar-02, to lugnet.gaming)

  Re: Gaming at AFOL cons

Whew. Back from Ireland - which was the trip AFTER BricksWest. Only now am I catching up on both reading and writing. I have just read the whole thread but will cast my comments as a reply to Frank's original message, with additions at the end. (...) (23 years ago, 1-Mar-02, to lugnet.gaming)

  Re: Gaming at AFOL cons

(...) The main thing I saw which could have reduced setup time would have been a simpler battlefield. At BrickFest 2000, the BrickWars game I saw had a few pieces of scenery scattered around but didn't try and cover the whole play area with studs. (...) (23 years ago, 28-Feb-02, to lugnet.gaming)

  Re: Gaming at AFOL cons

(...) I would have liked to have suck to less-structured pick-up games at BricksWest, but since I was picking up players "cold" (ie who had little to no familiarity with the game and who were not bringing armies of their own) I figured a structured (...)   Re: Gaming at AFOL cons

"Frank Filz" <ffilz@mindspring.com> wrote in message news:3C7AF510.3F00DA...ing.com... (...) Most gaming companies use temporary sales help for the major conventions and Lego could ask for volunteers to staff a booth for smaller conventions. Lego (...) (23 years ago, 26-Feb-02, to lugnet.gaming)
