  Re: which set?

(...) Maybe you want to wait for this fall and get the Liberty Statue set. (24 years ago, 29-Jul-00, to lugnet.fun)

  Re: which set?

(...) But he said he didn't want any really big ones; that one's going to be $200, at least from what I heard. Tim (24 years ago, 29-Jul-00, to lugnet.fun)

  Re: which set?

(...) I could probably swing that kind of thing, but a) I don't think my boss wants to wait that long b) We're in Canada, so its not terribly appropriate (This is the first I've heard of this set. Are any pics or info available?) If I had my (...) (24 years ago, 30-Jul-00, to lugnet.fun)

  Re: which set?

(...) I've seen technic space shuttles on internet sites, but they cost mabey twice as much. NICK (24 years ago, 30-Jul-00, to lugnet.fun)

(...) $200, (...) Just out of curiosity, what's that castle-looking thing in the background by that guy in a blue shirt? NICK :^A (24 years ago, 30-Jul-00, to lugnet.fun)

  Re: which set?

(...) Is that actually going to be a real for-sale set? Looks more like a display-only thing to me. If it were sold, it would be the single largest collection of grey bricks that Lego has ever come out with, and I'd have to buy zillions of them! (24 years ago, 30-Jul-00, to lugnet.fun)

  Re: which set?

(...) This is Steve Chuck's post about it: (URL) . It is also his picture, I was just putting up a link to it. Alan (24 years ago, 30-Jul-00, to lugnet.fun)

  Re: which set?

(...) Two things to note.. - It's slopes sparse, most of the statue is made from regular bricks. - The statue, I beleive, doesn't use regular gray. It will be using a new gray- green color (shown at the bottom of some pics) to match the color of (...) (24 years ago, 30-Jul-00, to lugnet.fun)

  Re: which set?

(...) I just bought one on eBay for $84 + shipping (the seller charged $10 flat). It's just a matter of patience. (24 years ago, 30-Jul-00, to lugnet.fun)

  Re: which set?

Actually, word is that the bricks are NOT gray, they are a new color that approximates verdigris ( the color that copper weathers to, something like a greenish gray). -Andy Lynch ----- Original Message ----- From: "Chris Gray" (...) (24 years ago, 30-Jul-00, to lugnet.fun)

  Re: which set?

Wow, I didn't know that verdigris was the word for it. I thought verdigris was the pearly grey stuff that came out of whales. See Moby Dick, where Herman Melville writes pages about it and what people will do to get it and what it feels like and (...) (24 years ago, 30-Jul-00, to lugnet.fun)

  Re: which set?

It's not the greatest set, but, 4556 the train station has 233 pieces, many of which contribute incrementally to the vertical growth of the building. It's two stories high with a flag on top (could be the final piece.) It also has 30 red 2x2 round (...) (24 years ago, 30-Jul-00, to lugnet.fun)

  Re: which set?

Ah, yes. It took me a second or two, but that other stuff is called ambergris: Thanks to Merriam-Webster Online (URL) Entry: am·ber·gris Pronunciation: 'am-b&r-"gris, -"grE(s) Function: noun Etymology: Middle English ambregris, from Middle French (...) (24 years ago, 30-Jul-00, to lugnet.fun)

  Re: which set?

(...) lit. (...) I would have called it a "copper Patenia" colour (not sure on the spelling)...but that is what I was brought up with the copper roofs being called. James (24 years ago, 30-Jul-00, to lugnet.fun)

  Re: which set?

(...) The patina is the greenish-bluish-cyanish film that forms; verdigris is the color. (24 years ago, 31-Jul-00, to lugnet.fun)

  Re: which set?

(...) lit. (...) I wonder how close the green will actually end up being to weathered copper? If we have to give it a name now, perhaps calling the new LEGO colour "Liberty Green" after the first set it will appear in would be best. -- David (...) (24 years ago, 31-Jul-00, to lugnet.fun)
