Another first timer from NJ:
I have been on this online community for a couple of years. And was always
impressed by how wonderful the people treated each other online. Always
constructive criticism and compliments flow from everyone's posts. And as
always I was impressed by the talent and artistic-ness of the community.
Then I went to Brickfest DC 2004.
I have been to gaming conventions, Star Trek Conventions and Embroidery
conventions.
I have never met a more welcoming, enthusiastic, happy, bunch of people before.
I am so glad to have had that experience.
The most important thing I learned, thank you DelVaLUG, was that it is easy to
get involved and start up LUG's if there is none in your area. And that you
could just start with a couple of people if you wanted.
I even realised that without knowing it I was a contributor to the AFOL
community. I work with the local school to compete in a local robotics
competition using Mindstorms kits.
I also learned there is a First Lego League competition locally that I could be
involved in.
I learned so much at Brickfest I can't even list it all here.
Thank you for being you! To everyone in this community, you are special people.
Oh and by the way SPACE

Considering the fact that before Thursday evening I had only met two (...) (20 years ago, 18-Aug-04, to lugnet.events.brickfest)
