Simon,
I'm an NC person, and the road directions from Greensboro are really easy: I-85
North to Richmond, then I-95 North until you get there:) (actually, getting
around in Arlington was the trick for me...Mapquest was a little fuzzy). I did a
quick look at train trips and Amtrak does have a trip from Greensboro to Union
Station (dead center DC, a block or so away from the Capitol) but then you would
have to take a Metro out to GMU (but the weekend fare is cheap as you can get a
weekend ticket for $5.00, unlimited rides). The train trip will take all day,
(about 8 hrs) . Driving would take 5-6 hours. Check www.amtrak.com (and pass
through the popups) for prices. It could be that a car rental might be cheaper.
I don't know where Best Western is at, but it's listed at 2 miles out from
campus, which is extreme walking distance, especially if it's hot!
