Connection speeds at home —Calum Tsang
Hi folks, Jeff Van Winden and I are planning something (rtlToronto-speak for no promises) but need to know roughly how fast the general public's network connections are. If you're interested in seeing live video (speeches) from BrickFest at home on (...) (21 years ago, 18-Jul-03, to lugnet.events)

Re: Connection speeds at home —John Henry Kruer
(...) Hi, Calum, I don't most of those things because I'm at music camp, but I've used a few live streams and they've worked before. (I use cable) I would really appreciate a live feed from Brickfest, as IMHO many others who cannot attend. I'd (...) (21 years ago, 18-Jul-03, to lugnet.events, FTX)

Re: Connection speeds at home —John Barnes
(...) Ergh ... Kevin Loch usually hangs a few webcams around GMU during BrickFest. Did you factor that into your plans? JB (21 years ago, 18-Jul-03, to lugnet.events)

Re: Connection speeds at home —Calum Tsang
(...) Yes. We're talking completely different things. The webcams are for more for identification, a webcast would be actually to hear Brad or other keynote speakers talking. We're talking full motion stream, full audio, realtime. The real question (...) (21 years ago, 19-Jul-03, to lugnet.events)

Re: Connection speeds at home —Larry Pieniazek
(...) I think a lot of people would. In previous years at BF/BW I (or Ahui in one case) took email and lugnet posted questions to be relayed to Brad when he was in Q/A mode. Seeing your question actually spoken and answered would be even better, ne? (...) (21 years ago, 19-Jul-03, to lugnet.events, lugnet.events.brickfest)

Re: Connection speeds at home —Larry Pieniazek
(...) I care. I won't watch because I'll be there... But I think it's nifty that you offer. Not sure how representative my stuff is... (aside, I read a factoid that broadband usage/subscription among US homes was up 50%ish from last year and all (...) (21 years ago, 19-Jul-03, to lugnet.events, lugnet.events.brickfest)

Re: Connection speeds at home —Tobbe Arnesson
(...) Would it be possible to skip the "live" part and just make good quality movies of BrickFest for download? Sure, live is neat and all but quality is always suffering and not many non-US citicens have the possibility to be around a computer at (...) (21 years ago, 5-Aug-03, to lugnet.events)

Re: Connection speeds at home —Calum Tsang
(...) After I spent all this time making this webpage with no actual information? :) (URL) will be archiving to disk, so I'll put them online at some point. (Some point likely to be a lot after the event) Calum (21 years ago, 5-Aug-03, to lugnet.events)

Re: Connection speeds at home —Tobbe Arnesson
(...) Some point is good enough, if it is to occur before my funeral. Thanks. /Tobbe (21 years ago, 6-Aug-03, to lugnet.events)
