  Re: Plastic Composition?

(...) G'day Nathan, This sounds like something you may want to ask LEGO Customer Satisfaction about. If it's a manufacturing defect, they'll probably replace the pieces for you. Hopefully the new ones won't crack either! In the Classic Space days, (...) (24 years ago, 30-Dec-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

  Plastic Composition?

I got an 8448 for Christmas and many pieces cracked, I figured it was simply the size of the model putting too much stress on the plastic. BTW, I posted the full story on that in .technic and have got no replys yet:) Looking at my Life on Mars (...) (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Lego Revamps( was Re: Ultimate castle theme..)

(...) Personally I would think that the price range should be something like this. Tiny Set (ie simple promotionals,cars,boats)- Under £5 -- This would encourage pocket money spending (Kbaya? type schemes..) Small set --(Piece counts?) £10 Mid-range (...) In fact, your ideas are remarkably similar to some thoughts I had a few weeks ago, so I'll toss in mine too: A basic underlying precept I have is my belief that, if Lego (...)   Re: Got some new news on Enfield Plant closing

(...) LEGO gets their ABS for Europe from Bayer. The U.S. Supply comes from GE. In other words, they can get the ABS from wherever they want to put a factory but it might take time to get the vendor up to speed. (URL) (many pages about LEGO and (...)   Re: Got some new news on Enfield Plant closing

(...) I believe they were only molding basic bricks at the Enfield plant. Considering how few basic bricks are in the current sets, it probably bade good business sense to shut it down. I wonder if they will discontinue bulk buckets and tubs? KL (24 years ago, 22-Dec-00, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.general, lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Got some new news on Enfield Plant closing

I still fail to see how this will save them money, unless: 1 - having the extra sets of molds/machines is killing production costs 2 - the raw ABS is ONLY available from Europe. I can't see how molding the bricks overseas and shipping them to the US (...) (24 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.general, lugnet.dear-lego)

Got some new news on Enfield Plant closing

Hope it hasn't been mentioned earlier. When I heard about the Enfield closing, I sent a letter to LEGO in Denmark, asking why the sets were simplified and if the sets would still be packaged in Enfield. I got the following back on an (...) (24 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.general, lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: This is scaring me...

Assuming TLC solves the "license one person's design so others can order it" problem in a way that makes it attractive for designers to contribute, and in a way that makes it easy for consumers to find "the good stuff".   Re: This is scaring me...

Yeah, I think you've misunderstood just a bit. I personally think it's a great idea. Why? Well, to be honest I wouldn't use it myself, but I don't think it'll replace the new sets. Lego is looking to expand itself, not radically change suddenly. (...) (24 years ago, 17-Dec-00, to lugnet.year.2002, lugnet.general, lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: This is scaring me...

One thing to consider is to look what is happening to the 'e-business' companies such as Amazon.com and Etoys.com. They are not making any $$. This Christmas is the 'make or break' for them to actually turn a profit. I don't see e-commerce taking (...) (24 years ago, 17-Dec-00, to lugnet.year.2002, lugnet.general, lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: This is scaring me...

  Re: This is scaring me...

It isn't/won't. TLC will always design sets - heck, the have the SW license through 2007! The new software will be a supplement product, like Mosaic.   This is scaring me...

Most people love the idea of being able to design sets online and order them. I don't like it. I might try it, but I really hope that TLC continues to design sets to sell in stores.
