...I long ago mentioned Games Workshop's 'Outrider Program' as a model
that should be copied by LEGO. GW actively encourages and helps out
local groups and individuals to go out and champion their products in
stores, malls, conventions, wherever.
...It is one thing to look at a box and read a magazine, but a totally
different ball-game when someone knowledgable and enthusiastic stands
in front of you and tells you why one set is great or just shows the
things that can be done with different sets (and I guarantee you AFOLs
are far more enthusiastic and knowledgable than your run-of-the-mill
teenager in the local toy store :-).
...An AFOL group setting up a display in a mall for a day would likely
cause more LEGO sales than any number of LEGO TV, print and radio
commercials. And it takes so little for them to just help out a little
(sending us boxes of S@H cards and current catalogs)... sigh...
...I just wish I would have thought of it enuf in advance to get a
'tell them WAMALUG sent you' rubber stamp to put on the back of the
cards... 300 ppl calling in and saying that would likely get someone's
attention.
...you can go back to ignoring me now...

| (...) Stephen, I do hope some of the "LEGO Bigwhigs" (Peter Eio are you listening?) read this. I've said long ago that we AFOLs are TLC's "LEGO Ambassadors at Large". Gary Istok (25 years ago, 29-Feb-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)
